We must ask ourselves, why do we observe art? What are we looking for? And subsequently, why do we create art? For me, the answer is simple. To pay homage to the beauty of our natural world provides motivation for me to create these paintings. In a sense, these are prayers of gratitude for the experiences that I have created. Other compositions reflect objects and motifs of my fascination.
I am Canadian born but have lived in many communities throughout North America, particularly the American West. The incredible presence of desert light, color and shape have always been wonderful motivations for me as a painter. I use acrylic paint on paper. As a self-taught artist, I've been influenced by Impressionist painters, photo realistic artists and comic book illustrations.
